Company Profile
The maritime origins of the Italian shipping company Costa Container Lines (CCL) go back to 1947. Its liner services call at ports in South, Central and North America, as well as the Mediterranean and Africa. In its trades, CCL stands for speed and competence in the transport of containerised cargo of all kinds – from coffee, fruit and meat to cars and machinery. In addition, it is acknowledged to be a leading expert in the carriage of refrigerated commodities. With a cargo volume of 360,000 TEU, CCL generated turnover of 440 million euros in 2006.
The takeover of CCL by the Hamburg Süd Group as of 1 December 2007 adds the following CCL liner operations to Hamburg Süd's service portfolio:
- Western Mediterranean – South America East Coast
- Western Mediterranean – Canada – Cuba – Central America
- South America East Coast – Caribbean and Mexico
- Western Mediterranean – South America North Coast and Caribbean
- Italy –Turkey and Greece
- Italy – Algeria
- Italy – Syria, Lebanon and Egypt
