INTTRA Announces Rapid Reservation
April 30, 2003
Value-add service set to streamline booking process for shippers, forwarders, and carriers
Parsippany, NJ, USA - April 30, 2003 - INTTRA (www.inttra.com), the leading provider of e-business ocean logistics services, today announced Rapid Reservation, a service that provides registered INTTRA shippers and forwarders with an immediate carrier reservation number when they make a booking with most INTTRA carriers. Customers creating bookings via INTTRA-ACT (Web-based solution) or INTTRA-LINK (integration solution) can receive these Rapid Reservation numbers and continue the booking process without delay. Rapid Reservation can also be used along with INTTRA's Booking Notification System, which automatically distributes reservation numbers to all designated parties involved in the booking, completing the entire booking process within a fraction of the time required for the traditional method.
"INTTRA's unique position as the industry-owned consortium enables us to work together with our carriers to offer Rapid Reservation to more than 3,000 shippers and forwarders within North America alone," said Harry Sangree, INTTRA Senior Vice President of Product Management. "When a customer submits a booking request to INTTRA via INTTRA-ACT or INTTRA-LINK, we assign that booking a carrier reservation number drawn from a set of numbers approved by INTTRA carriers. This number is sent immediately back to the customer and becomes the carrier booking number upon carrier confirmation of the booking."
Lisa Starr, Export Traffic Coordinator for Trinidad Benham Corporation, said, "INTTRA makes my booking process faster and easier. Rapid Reservation works very well with the shipping services that I use, and the Booking Notification System sends the reservation number I get for my booking to the buyer that I specify. For these reasons, I am more likely to use carriers that utilize INTTRA's Rapid Reservation."
Carriers are also eager to improve their booking processes. "There is no question that there is a demand for Rapid Reservation among our customers," said Philippe Salles, CMA CGM E-Commerce Manager, INTTRA. "By participating in Rapid Reservation, we expect to satisfy our customers' needs and increase our market share."
