INTTRA and MGH Group are Boosting E-Commerce Growth in Bangladesh
January 16, 2006
Dhaka, Bangladesh, January 16, 2006 – In the last year, e-commerce in Bangladesh received a major boost when MGH Group, one of the top players in the Bangladesh freight forwarding market, chose to link to INTTRA.
INTTRA is the world's largest e-commerce platform for ocean freight with 20 of the world's largest ocean carriers in its network, representing 56 percent of the ocean freight industry.
With the addition of MGH Group to the INTTRA customer network, INTTRA is now linked to the top four freight forwarders in the region. They represent over half of the Bangladesh freight forwarding market, according to Ram Kalvakuntla, Regional Sales Director, INTTRA Indian Ocean Region.
“MGH Group is a leading freight forwarder business in this region and accounts for a significant portion of total exports,” said Kalvakuntla, with the other forwarders representing about half the market. He said, “continued e-commerce growth was expected.”
“About a year ago the MGH Group decided to connect to INTTRA and utilize its INTTRA-Link, EDI-based solution for seamless integration of its backend system to INTTRA's platform,”
said, Vishal Sinha, MGH Group's Chief Solution Officer. Sinha said, “MGH Group utilized INTTRA for bookings and very soon we'll be live with shipping instructions, as well. We are also looking to integrate the status messages via INTTRA-Link.”
According to Sinha, the MGH Group joined INTTRA, “to provide our customers with an end-to-end supply chain information solution and to establish the most efficient supply chain network. INTTRA provides a unique platform to integrate with various shipping lines, which reduces the communication gap and time required to connect with various shipping lines. INTTRA also provides efficient documentation and reduces parallel data entry and paper work,” he said.
“We are excited with the acceptance of INTTRA by the shippers and freight forwarders in the Indian Sub-Continent in general, and Bangladesh in particular. INTTRA's growth in the region is proof of the intrinsic strength of our business concept,” said Kalvakuntla.
“Given the growing importance of South Asia to the global shipping industry, we are encouraged by the positive approach to e-commerce in the region that the MGH connection to INTTRA represents,” added Paul Stephen, INTTRA's Managing Director, Indian Ocean Region.
