INTTRA Helps Topsoft Systems Inc. Boost Taiwan's Global Competiveness/Data Visibility
March 10, 2006
Taiwan – For over a year INTTRA has helped Topsoft Systems Inc., a Taiwan-based shipping application software developer and service provider, boost actual customer connections and promote visibility as part of a government-backed effort to increase the country's global competitiveness through electronic commerce
The decision to apply the INTTRA-Link service in June of 2005, which provides EDI connection to 22 of the world's top ocean carriers and several thousand freight forwarders, came after two years of serious evaluation, according to Paul Jair, CEO of Topsoft. He determined that linking to INTTRA, the world's largest e-commerce ocean platform, would boost the country's global competitiveness by providing cutting-edge e-commerce connections for Topsoft's customer base of shipping professionals.
"Topsoft engineers successfully built an EDI platform, which they linked with INTTRA's powerful hub, and is now offering a wide array of online shipping functions to Taiwan shipping professionals and their overseas agents," said Jair. In particular, he said the Taiwan shipping industry could now handle global cargo tracking and automatic access of cargo status from the carrier online and in a unified fashion that provided visibility of cargo data for near real-time control of shipments.
The Taiwanese government has been promoting e-commerce as a means of boosting the country's competitiveness since at least 1999, according to government reports. Most recently, the Department of Commerce (DOC) under the Ministry of Economic Affairs launched its "E-Commerce Regulation and Infrastructure Setup Plan," which has been carried out by the government-funded Institute for Information Industry (III) for several years, according to Taiwan Headlines RSS on March 8, 2006.
Topsoft joined the government's "e-plan" in 2004, helping 150 logistics service providers go live with their e-plans. The next year the company created a software alliance with INTTRA and became INTTRA's leading e-business collaborator in Taiwan after spending a great deal on supply chain technology to help improve electronic data and information flow.
Topsoft's successful collaboration with INTTRA is just one example of how the Taiwanese government's vision of the 1990s is paying off in e-commerce growth today. In making this point, Jair offered a hearty "thank you!" to all those who made the connection to INTTRA possible. By working with INTTRA in Taiwan, Jair said his team was "able to offer better services for global logistics and connect Taiwanese logistics professionals with international carriers and service providers."
"INTTRA is delighted to be collaborating with Topsoft in a fast growing e-commerce environment such as Taiwan. Through Topsoft's extensive network of customers and INTTRA's expanding product suite, we are ideally situated to jointly develop the Taiwanese marketplace into a leading e- commerce environment, allied with growing need to incorporate technology to the leading Taiwanese exporters," Tony Wines, INTTRA Managing Director, Asia-Pacific Region.
