INTTRA Alliance with China Ocean Shipping Agency Creates Boom in E-Commerce Growth in China

December 12, 2006

Xiamen, China,  December 11, 2006 - INTTRA’s four-year alliance with the Xiamen-based China Ocean Shipping Agency, also known as Penavico Xiamen, has helped boost the efficiency of containerized trade in the China and Korea region.

The first alliance, with the China-based cargo agent, has helped boost INTTRA’s growth in the region by more than 350% in 2006, says Michael Nielsen, INTTRA’s Senior Vice President of Global Commercial Sales.  “This significant increase in growth demonstrates the value of e-commerce in practice for shippers who are seeking to streamline and standardize their ocean shipment processes.”

INTTRA is the largest e-commerce platform for the ocean industry with 22 of the world’s largest ocean carriers in its network, representing 61 percent of the ocean freight capacity among the world’s top carriers.

Liu Changfu, Director of the Information Technology Department, the China Ocean Shipping Agency, notes: “The China Ocean Shipping Agency is the largest international Shipping Agency in Xiamen and Southeast Asia with a strong, sound background in technology, and human and financial capital.  Being INTTRA’s first strategic alliance collaborator in China has enabled both sides to open up a new horizon in the use of electronic processes for bookings, bills of lading, and tracking of containers.  Both companies will work towards developing a common platform including booking of containers, custom declarations, and bill of lading to enable shippers and freight forwarders a highly efficient and convenient e-commerce service in Xiamen and Fujian provinces.”

“The collaboration between China Ocean Shipping Agency (Xiamen) and INTTRA is reinforcing the importance of e-commerce leadership to facilitate ocean shipments from Xiamen.  This cooperation will enable the regional shipping industry to enjoy the benefits of a streamlined and unique process that includes an array of services from submission of electronic bookings to processing documentation.  More importantly, the increased efficiency INTTRA can provide for the Xiamen market will continue to drive INTTRA and China Ocean Shipping Agency to greater success,” said Doris Cheung, INTTRA Regional Sales Director, South China and Korea.

“It is extremely gratifying to be involved in this partnership with China Ocean Shipping Agency (Xiamen).  We have developed a close working relationship together and created an important e-commerce service to the marine industry in Xiamen.  Both parties are committed to a common mission of implementing high standards of e-commerce value to the industry, which further demonstrates the leadership of the two companies in China,” added Bobby Lim, INTTRA Managing Director, China and Korea region.
