Tenon, Ltd. Boosts Supply Chain Efficiency by Using Multiple INTTRA Solutions
July 23, 2007
First to Adopt INTTRA Desktop File Master
Auckland, New Zealand, July 23, 2007 - Tenon, Ltd., a manufacturer and distributor of a large range of wood products primarily to the North American housing and do-it-yourself renovation and remodeling markets, is the first company in the Asia-Pacific region to install the new INTTRA Desktop File Master along with a variety of other INTTRA solutions.
INTTRA is the largest e-commerce platform for the ocean industry, processing 200,000 container orders per week, representing almost 10 percent of global container trade. INTTRA Desktop File Master allows customers to transfer data from their company's existing enterprise resource planning (ERP) databases, or Excel spreadsheets onto an existing desktop shipping instruction without having to re-key manually. The product, which was deployed in February, also allows customers to create shipping documents and bookings offline and then submit them to carriers via email or Web services.
"Utilizing the Desktop File Master to import container details from a spreadsheet straight onto the shipping instructions in INTTRA Desktop is far easier. We are no longer relying on the shipping company's manual input of the data onto our way bills, reducing the need for any amendments and reducing errors," said Marama Rahiri, Tenon Logistics Manager. "And submitting shipping instructions via EDI is saving us time and reducing the paperwork that occurs when submitting documents manually," she added.
Tenon utilizes a number of other INTTRA products to boost its supply chain and more efficiently serve its customers. In April, the company deployed INTTRA Desktop. Available for several years, INTTRA Desktop enables customers to create shipping documents and bookings offline and then send them to carriers via email or Web services. It features a standard process to use, create, save and edit templates, in addition to providing an easier way to archive and locate information.
The wood products manufacturer also completed a successful integration with INTTRA Link in February 2007 via PRODOC, a New Zealand-based software manufacturer that maintains an alliance with INTTRA. INTTRA Link (I-Link) offers customers with a high volume of shipping transactions the option of using XML or EDI to link their systems directly to multiple carriers with one connection.
PRODOC has integrated 12 New Zealand-based customers to the INTTRA platform, including Tenon, allowing them to handle shipping instructions electronically, according to Arwel Thomas, INTTRA's New Zealand Sales Manager. He notes that the wood products manufacturer is also utilizing INTTRA Act (I-Act) an online application that offers a simple and secure Web-based connection for shippers and forwarders to manage a wide range of shipment processes.
Noting that by deploying a number of INTTRA tools Tenon has found an efficient way of managing their ever increasing supply chain, Thomas says that working with Tenon "has been exciting. They have easily grasped the options available and have enhanced their internal processes to take full advantage of the INTTRA product set. They know that modern business needs to live in the e-commerce world to remain competitive."
