Edi-Trade Brings Power of the INTTRA Platform to Customs Brokers in Chile:Boosts E-Commerce Adoption through INTTRA Link

October 22, 2007

SANTIAGO, CHILE, October 22, 2007 – Edi-Trade® S.A., a premier provider of software and data exchange infrastructure used by Chilean customs brokers, forwarders and shippers to electronically transfer their shipping information to Chilean Customs, has connected to the INTTRA platform, streamlining the documentation process with ocean carriers.

Edi-Trade, which maintains an alliance with INTTRA, has 85 percent of the Chilean market share with more than 188 active customers using their applications. INTTRA is the world’s largest e-commerce platform for the ocean shipping industry, with more than 200,000 container orders initiated on the platform per week, representing almost 10 percent of global container trade.

Ag.de Aduana Patricio Larranga, a customs broker located in Santiago, Valparaiso and other Chilean ports, served as the pilot customer for the connection to INTTRA. “During the pilot phase we transacted approximately 1,200 containers with an average of 340 containers per month. Our projection for next year is to increase the monthly volume five times over 2007,” said Juan Enrique Ortúzar Elton, an Edi-Trade Project Manager.

Ag.de Aduana Patricio Larranaga officials report that the INTTRA Link connection with
Edi-Trade has provided a high degree of efficiency and accuracy in document processing, reducing significantly the rate of errors, and time spent editing and resolving errors. It also represents a substantial reduction of costs in claims and delays in the process.

“We are proud and excited to offer these services to the Chilean shipping community,” said Karina Boncristiano, INTTRA’s South America Sales Director.  “Edi-Trade, INTTRA and the ocean carriers in Chile recognize the value and importance of e-commerce in a global market. When we first started discussions with Edi-Trade we quickly saw the added benefits that our collaboration would bring to our mutual customers. Shippers, forwarders and customs brokers using Edi-Trade can now leverage the INTTRA platform and use one process to submit shipping instructions to their carriers.”
