INTTRA Breaking New Records in E-Commerce

October 08, 2007

Efficiencies Mount as More Than One Million Containers are Initiated on Portal in September-

Parsippany, NJ, October 8, 2007 - INTTRA, the leading e-commerce portal for the ocean freight industry, had a record-breaking month in September with more than a million container transactions initiated through its portal.  In total, the INTTRA portal is expected to process more than 10 million containers in 2007, doubling last year’s volume of containers and representing 10 percent of global ocean container trade.  INTTRA expects similar volume growth in 2008.
According to Ken Bloom, INTTRA’s CEO and President, the platform’s rapid adoption can be attributed to expanding the geographic and product footprint, with significant growth coming from China, India, South America and emerging markets in South East Asia and Africa.  In particular, the introduction of new INTTRA products, such as an offline PC based Desktop Shipping Order for China and upgraded e-commerce tools for electronic Shipping Instructions are boosting growth as carriers, shippers and freight forwarders enjoy the efficiency of a streamlined, electronic process that allows them to consistently communicate in the same format.
“INTTRA’s recent momentum is a testament to the evolving landscape for e-commerce and its move into the mainstream of shipping,” said Bloom. “In today’s global environment, electronic commerce has evolved into ‘everyday’ commerce for modern business, and as significant volumes are achieved greater efficiencies can accumulate across the industry.”
As INTTRA’s carrier network continues to expand, a growing list of customers are benefiting from the Company’s robust e-commerce platform.  INTTRA enables companies of all sizes, from large, global manufacturing corporations to regional retail distributors, to effectively manage bookings, access sailing schedules, submit shipping instructions, review bills of lading, create standardized reports, and track and trace shipments around the globe – as evidenced by this notable benchmark.
