Valenciaportpcs.net Increases INTTRA Offerings to Customers: Forwarders and Carriers Have Access to Electronic Bookings for the First Time
February 11, 2008
VALENCIA, SPAIN, February 11, 2008 – "Valenciaportpcs.net, which operates as a single portal for all electronic procedures to support the Valencia Port Community, is expanding its services with INTTRA to include INTTRA-Link bookings, shipping instructions and track and trace functions," said José García de la Guía, Technology Innovation Manager, Port Authority of Valencia.
INTTRA is a leading global provider of e-commerce solutions to ocean carriers and their customers, with more than 240,000 container orders initiated on the platform per week, representing almost 10 percent of global container trade.
TIBA International, a major freight forwarder with offices worldwide, is the first Valenciaportpcs.net customer to initiate the INTTRA-Link booking connection. TIBA also sends shipping instructions and receives track and trace events via the INTTRA/Valenciaport alliance.
"TIBA International together with forwarders, such as Transunion and Savino del Bene Group, make up our biggest source of volume in Spain. The total volume of these three forwarders is a bit less than one third of Port of Valencia export volume," said Jaime Lopez, Commercial Manager of Valenciaportpcs.net.
Javier Romeu, TIBA Sales Manager, adds that adoption of e-commerce tools, of the sort available through INTTRA, is right in line with TIBA's support of technology investments, along with technology development and staff training in IT. "As a freight forwarder we believe in the value of information. The best way to satisfy our customers' needs is to be able to detect problems, inform our clients about them while offering the best solution, all in almost real time. This is only possible through advanced IT systems linked to carriers. Our partnership with INTTRA and Valenciaport has proved to be an excellent investment since it allows us to be more efficient and to react much quicker than our competitors," he explained.
And Nuria Gago, INTTRA Sales Manager for Spain, lauds companies such as Valenciaportpcs.net and TIBA for being early technology adopters, which, in turn, has created tremendous benefits. She said, "We are delighted that TIBA's connection through INTTRA and Valenciaportpcs.net has enabled them to provide a higher level of service to their customers."

About the Port of Valencia
The Port Authority of Valencia (PAV), commercially known as Valenciaport, is the public enterprise responsible for running and administrating the three state owned ports situated along 80 kilometers of Spain's eastern Mediterranean coastline. The three ports are Gandía, Valencia and Sagunto.
This combination makes Valenciaport the Mediterranean leader in terms of commercial traffic, most of which is containerized. Key factors in achieving this position have been its dynamic area of influence and an extensive network of routes to and from other leading ports worldwide. The Port Authority of Valencia has enjoyed sustained growth of over 14% annually over the last ten years, and in 2007 the ports in the Port Authority of Valencia handled around 53,000,000 tons and around 3,040,000 TEUs.
Valenciaport has a tight-knit port community, which shares innovative features such as its Quality Mark and the Valenciaport portal's Transactional Area (valenciaportpcs.net) and is made up of all the public and private agents who provide their services through the ports of Valencia, Sagunto and Gandía. Valenciaport is not just a crucial part of the overseas image of the Valencian Region, it is also the maritime gateway for industry and consumer goods for the whole Iberian Peninsula.
The PAV has been chosen by the ports in the Australian state of Victoria as the technology provider for developing Call Management and Dangerous Goods Management Services and for controlling dangerous goods access at terminal gateways using the technology of valenciaportpcs.net. The state of Victoria's choice gives the PAV's technology strategy further international credibility. This strategy, involving 100% Spanish-developed technologies, has made the Port of Valencia Europe's leading port by both transaction volume and number of services available.
