Leading Shipping Platform Providers Collaborate to Increase Availability of Supply Chain Data in South China
PARSIPPANY, NJ, July 14, 2008 – INTTRA, the leading e-commerce portal for the ocean freight industry, today announces it has partnered with SZEDI, one of the largest port information centers in China. SZEDI is authorized by the Shenzhen Government to provide EDI and value-added services, logistics information services, customs electronics declaration services and e-commerce services. Now working with INTTRA, the information provider has strengthened its supply data by automating and standardizing the shipment process with multiple carriers while receiving status information on containers.
"We are very pleased to be working with an industry leader such as INTTRA," said Zhou Jie, Deputy General Manager, SZEDI. "As we are providing EDI services and value-added application services to both enterprises and governmental departments throughout the supply chain in South China, and we are planning to extend our services to logistics e-commerce basing on professional practices in logistics information services, we need a global partner that can provide us with the channel to quickly and securely transact with carriers to build up the e-commerce business between shippers and carriers. INTTRA's knowledge of the shipping industry and its relationship with global carriers made it a perfect fit for SZEDI."
In 2001, SZEDI was appointed by the Shenzhen Government as the exclusive Information Public Platform for the Shenzhen logistics industry. On behalf of the Shenzhen Government, SZEDI has worked with China Customs to found the ‘Shenzhen E-Port,' which is the exclusive platform for Electronics Declaration of Exit and Entry of Cargo in Shenzhen.
In order to satisfy the need of shipping industry, SZEDI is utilizing multiple INTTRA solutions in order to more effectively manage cargo movement throughout the Chinese region including:
- INTTRA Link Booking and Shipping Instructions, an EDI integration that offers SZEDI to link their customers to carriers using SZEDI platform. This allows SZEDI customers to take advantage of the single connections between the INTTRA platform and its carrier partners, saving time and money in managing and maintaining multiple connections.
- INTTRA Link Track & Trace, which provides SZEDI up-to-date container status information to allow their customers greater container-shipment control and visibility, in addition to empowering them with the ability to monitor services provided by INTTRA member carriers.
"SZEDI is a tremendous partner for INTTRA as we look to continue expanding our presence in China," said David Au, General Manager, Hong Kong and South China, INTTRA.
