INTTRA Announces Enhanced Web Booking

August 03, 2009

Next Generation E-booking tool drives efficiency and higher data quality for industry

Parsippany, NJ, August 3, 2009 – INTTRA, the leading e-commerce platform for the ocean freight industry, today announced the availability of INTTRA-ACT Booking 2.0 an easy-to-use, Web-based booking tool for Shippers and Forwarders to reserve space on ocean going vessels. Shippers and forwarders are now able to enter more detailed shipment information creating complex bookings to send to multiple carriers via the Internet. Manual parallel processes are reduced resulting in a more streamlined, faster documentation process and higher data quality. Additionally, shippers receive timely confirmations from carriers due to the submission of more detailed electronic bookings.

In co-operation with INTTRA carriers, advances in carrier system capabilities and input of many users around the world, INTTRA-ACT Booking 2.0 combines the convenience and interactivity of the Web with enhancements that enable shippers and forwarders to more easily process bookings with their ocean carriers. Key data elements have been added for more complex commodity cargo requirements including temperature and atmosphere-controlled shipments, out of gauge, and hazardous goods.

Erica S. Stoyer, Transportation Planner at Air Products, a leading exporter of industrial gases and specialty chemicals, and a daily user of INTTRA-ACT Booking 2.0 during the pilot phase says, "This efficient and interactive tool really helps us. We can respond to and use booking information in a more specific way. Plus, there are fewer errors because we don't have to manually call or write in details for every booking."
Air Products, like many shippers has a unique set of shipping challenges that require more complex booking details that are now available with INTTRA's Web booking. "We're seeing many benefits from INTTRA's Web Booking tool, and we're going to use more reports and tracking down the line. I-Act Booking 2.0 can help us find new ways to work more efficiently, especially with customers on the receiving end of our shipments," says Stoyer.

Stephen Denis, INTTRA's Director of Product Management, says, "We are very pleased with the feedback from pilot customers following the introduction of INTTRA-ACT Booking 2.0 earlier this year. Web bookings have increased 48% year-to-date and shippers and forwarders are reporting better data integrity, improved customer service and faster confirmations. In this tough economic environment the availability of this advanced Web-based service is helping to accelerate the adoption of e-commerce as users seek to gain efficiencies and control costs."

"We are pleased to offer INTTRA-ACT Booking 2.0 as an industry-standard for bookings. The tool offers users many smart features to help simplify the complexity of managing bookings and supports more detailed and accurate data the industry needs to better manage the ocean supply chain," says John DeBenedette, INTTRA's Vice President of Commercial.
