February 22, 2010
INTTRA’s proven e-commerce solutions drive new efficiencies in Less-Than-Container-Load (LCL) shipments
Antwerp, Belgium and Parsippany, NJ, USA, February 22, 2010 -- ECU-LINE, the Antwerp based leading NVOCC, has signed a pilot agreement with INTTRA, the leading e-commerce platform for the ocean freight industry, to become the first global NVOCC to receive shipping instructions from ECU-LINE's LCL shippers using the INTTRA ocean platform. Starting in March, the ECU-LINE group will pilot the new INTTRA service with two of their major customers before rolling out the solution to their global accounts later this year.
INTTRA is in a unique position to help ECU-LINE deliver this best-in-class solution with proven technology and a vast network. INTTRA users initiate more than 300,000 container orders per week, representing more than 10 percent of global ocean container trade. INTTRA users are ECU-LINE customers.
The connection of ECU-LINE to INTTRA for LCL documentation is a milestone in the LCL industry and will enable all forwarders to gain the benefits of a seamless paperless documentation flow through INTTRA, using the same business process they currently use for their Full-Container-Load (FCL) business with ocean carriers. "Our strategy has always focused on delivering great service for our LCL customers. We are pleased to offer this additional benefit to ECU-LINE's loyal customers, who are, in times like these, also looking for innovations to control their costs and increase operational efficiency," says Franky Van Doren, CEO Eastern Europe and Adriatic and Sr. Vice President Sales and Marketing for ECU-LINE group.
INTTRA and ECU-LINE have collaborated to drive efficiencies for all parties involved in LCL shipments. "ECU-LINE sought from INTTRA a solution for ECU-LINE's global customers with INTTRA-Link connections that enable them to use the same process with LCL as they do for FCL shipments. Using the INTTRA network, forwarders can work faster, with less errors caused by paper-based processes that require re-keying of data," said David Burns, Director of Product Management at INTTRA.
